Be the change:

Its funny how the smallest things can have the largest impact. After a weekend spent almost on hibernation mode, I awoke feeling the need to take charge, to be active, and not hide from life. I wanted to start my day with a run, but instead of shooting to high and burning myself out I went for a walk. I didn't have a destination in mind, but 5 minutes into the walk and I decided to go to shoprite to get breakfast materials. (I had a huge hankering for some of my amazing taylor ham egg&cheese xD) So anyway it wasnt until my walk back that I came into contact with someone who changed my perspective. I was on the last leg of my journey home and I see a woman walking, and every 10 steps or so stoping and bending over. I laughed to myself creating a scenario as to why someone would be doing this, and leaving such information to my mind, it is usually somewhat slapstick, in nature. What she was doing was picking up bottles and small pieces of garbage that she found while she was walking. I was watching her as the two of us walked, until she crossed the street and was now walking infront of me. Her actions had inspired me to pick up a can. She was walking and passed a recycling bin. I said something to her and started a conversation.
This conversation fulfilled one of my goals for today. I've been reading Mindsight, by Daniel J. Siegel (A great read which I highly recommend) and it talks about resonating with other people. I feel like I've lacked, or unconsciously blocked this ability for a long time, but today that has changed. I've made a breakthrough.
Our conversation which switched subjects from too much garbage, too many people, people thinking their were too many animals, until she said something that struck a chord deep within.
Don't try to save the world, no one can, but if you try to take care of your corner, the universe will do the same.

This makes sense quite logically, Karen in picking up trash on her walk, (her corner of the world) was doing what she could to help the planet out. Unbeknownst to her, that such a simple gesture would start a chain reaction, cause me and other people who may have seen her action.
